Take this opportunity to share you own thoughts about Cuba, Brazil, or any other part of Latin America when it comes to its past, present, or what you may think its future will be like. Henry Louis Gates does documentaries on trips to varies parts of Latin America to seek and understand the perspectives of the people there and to prove true or false, if they truly are done with racism.
This week, I was able to take a look at racism in Cuba and whether or not they were free. It was interesting to learn the impact that America had on Cuba. Cuban people are one; Black and White wasn't a separation for them. Also, spin it how you may, one may be able to argue that slavery and racism was forced onto people who simply wanted independence.
Prior to, I took a look at racism in Brazil. A bit different, but shades of the same color. There were periods of time where Blacks and Whites lived together but it was still frowned upon. There are stories of a Black woman who was praised for her assimilation. Chica de Silva: should she be given flowers or boos?
The above, are just.a few more clips of work from Mr. Gate. Any additional views and perspectives are welcome. Gates shined lights on the racism and the impact of African people in various places. You will gain at least one new insight from each video watched or a new confirmation or fact to run with.
